Kenneth E. Conner Jr., age 72, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born on June 21, 1953, in Mount Vernon to Kenneth E. and Dolly (Barton) Conner Sr.
Ken was as ornery and fun loving as a husband, dad, and grandpa could be. He loved helping others with anything you could throw his way. If he couldn’t fix it or figure it out, he always found a way! His favorite hobby was collecting anything MG! As an avid car collector, he had an artist’s eye that he used in his years of doing auto body work, and then transitioned into running a lawn care service. He also enjoyed restoring, antiques, woodworking, and working on some of his own inventions.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Wanda J. (Simmons) Conner; a son, Kenneth E. “ Junior” Conner III; a daughter, Roxanna Lynn “Rocky” (Fred) Burch; two grandchildren, Kyle Ryan “Carson” Hoop and Mackenzie Renee “Carly” (Blake) Ernsberger; a great-granddaughter, Ellie Raine Stiltner; sister, Ruth Treen; uncle to Bryan Treen, Jeanette Smith-Treen, and Dale Treen; son-in-law, Roger Hoop; and a brother-in-law, Mike Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Angela Hoop.
The family is observing private services.
