DANVILLE — The annual migration of strange creatures, popularly known as trick-or-treating, swept through Knox County over the past several days.
Starting in Centerburg on Thursday, they wound their way eastward, reaching Mount Vernon, Fredericktown, and Gambier on Friday and Danville on Saturday. Brinkhaven residents reported a few were sighted in their hamlet, too.
A few were in their natural form: dinosaurs, skeletons, and strange green creatures. However, some impersonated humans, with reported sightings of the Bengals’ Joe Burrow, the Founding Fathers, and a Danville cheerleader.
Although they previously appeared at dusk, the creatures were out in full force in Saturday’s mid-afternoon sunshine, confirming officials’ suspicions that they will come out at any time to collect sweets and treats.
However, they had disappeared from the streets by 5 p.m., leaving locals shaking their heads at the phenomenon that has occurred in the U.S. since the mid-19th century.
