Dennis W. Murphy, age 60, of Fredericktown passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born on May 24, 1962, in Newark, Ohio to Glenn Murphy and Judith (Kieber) Zolman.
After graduating (1981) from Newark High School in Newark, Ohio, he worked for his step-dad at Zolman’s Car Wash in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Dennis enjoyed Dirt Track Racing, Nascar (especially Jimmie Johnson), was a member of the George Jones Fan Club, and attended the Oak Creek Bible Church. He could always be seen driving his blue golf cart around the Fredericktown area. He loved his family and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife Marie (McConnell) Murphy; his children, David (Emily) Murphy of Bellville and Suzanne (Nathan) Wright of Fredericktown; his grandchildren, Felicity, Gabby, Brenley, Holley, Brock and Averie; his sisters, Victoria Stokes of Newark, Glendora (Anthony) Meyer of Mount Vernon and Shelly (Jay Kipp) Tanner of Loudonville; his brothers Frederick Murphy of Mount Vernon and Glenn Roger (Denise) Murphy of Bellville; Step-Sister Mary Zolman of Mount Vernon and many nieces and nephews; Step Dad Keith Zolman; his special “mom” Sharon Wimer of Mount Vernon.
Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Dennis (Pee Wee) Murphy; his mother, Judith (Kieber) Zolman; his father, Glenn Murphy; his sister, Sheryl Renicker; his brother, Patrick Murphy; his 4 brother n laws,Alfred McConnell , Phillip Lord, Timothy Stokes and Larry Johnson; his best friend “brother” Harry Wimer. His nephew Timothy (TJ) Stokes.
In keeping with Dennis’ wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will observe a celebration of life service at Oak Creek Bible Church in Johnstown, Ohio with Pastor Tom Tucker at a date and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saint Judes Children’s Research Hospital in Dennis Murphy’s name.
