The Rickers have replaced this bridge many times after their property flooded. Flooding has also washed away the landscape rocks and plants.

This June 10,2021, photo shows what remains of Ron and Lou Ann Ricker’s antique farm wagon after years of flooding.

This is the stormwater runoff from north of the Ricker property. The flow splits into the original ditch on the right and the second ditch the Rickers dug to alleviate flooding. The northern land is currently tilled farmland. A proposed use is for a subdivision with most of the lots in the 5-acre range.

Ron and Lou Ann Ricker dug a second drainage ditch through the middle of their property to create an outlet for the water when the original ditch backed up and started overflowing. They paid to have it cleaned out a second time and have to continually weed-whack it.

In 2019, the Village of Centerburg cleared and reshaped the drainage ditch that runs south of the bike path.

For 10 years, a downstream drainage ditch has backed up and caused severe flooding onto the property of Ron and Lou Ann Ricker. The drainage ditch runs along the right side of their property.

This photo taken June 18, 2021, shows the drainage ditch looking south from the bike path. It runs across the village, Emlich, and 2 Olives properties toward the nursing center.
