MOUNT VERNON — The future is bright for Mount Vernon’s Jax McPeek.

A sophomore catcher, McPeek was selected to the All-Ohio first team in Division II by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association.

McPeek led the Yellow Jackets in virtually every offensive category. He batted a team-high .438 with a team-leading 14 doubles, three home runs and 34 runs batted in.

Junior teammate Nolan Hershberger was an honorable-mention pick as an outfielder. Hershberger batted .416 with eight doubles and 27 RBIs.

Division V

East Knox junior Colton Armstrong was an All-Ohio first-team pick in Division V after helping the Bulldogs win an outright Knox Morrow Athletic Conference championship.

A second baseman, Armstrong batted .422 with 12 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He stole 22 bases.

Teammate Zayne Grennell was a second-team choice in the outfield, while Caden Ridenour was an honorable-mention selection as a catcher.

Grennell batted a team-best .462 with nine doubles and 15 RBIs. Ridenour hit .408 with a team-leading 30 RBIs.

Centerburg outfielder Vinny Morgan and Fredericktown utility man Vince Lavin were second-team selections. 

Morgan led the KMAC with a .500 batting average. He stroked six doubles and knocked in 15 runs.

Lavin hit .410 with six doubles and 21 RBIs.
