GAMBIER – Maggie Sweeney of the Kenyon Ladies tennis team earned the North Coast Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week honor on Monday after helping the team to a season-opening win over the weekend.
It was Sweeney’s second career accolade.
Kenyon, ranked 30th in Division III, visited No. 12 (NAIA) University of Northwestern Ohio on February 3 and notched a 5-4 win. The victory was Kenyon’s first over UNOH since 2013.
During the match, the Grosse Pointe, Michigan native teamed with Grace Winslow and earned Kenyon’s lone doubles point winning 8-2 at the second flight. In singles, Sweeney won 6-2, 7-6 at No. 3.
The Ladies return to the courts on February 10 when they host Kalamazoo College at 11:30 a.m. at Jasper Tennis Center.
