MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Cantata Choir under the direction of Lynn Jurkowitz proudly presents “Season of Wonders,” a Christmas cantata by Joseph Martin.
Featuring over 70 vocalists from Knox County and vicinity, this musical event is a celebration of the miracle of Christmas. Performing as special guests will be the Jubilate Quartet, Rebecca McQueen, and David Wells. The Jubilate quartet consists of Jaimye Weaver, Jennifer Grassbaugh, Jill Carroll, and Michal Pfettscher. All members of the Central Christian Church, most of this group’s experience has been singing for their church and their seven “groupies” (under the age of 7)! They will now bring their tight sweet harmonies to the Memorial Theater stage.
Rebecca McQueen is a native of Knox County. Born and raised in Fredericktown, she grew up singing with family and later would sing for churches, weddings and special events. She has also performed with several duets, trios, and quartets. She sings a variety of styles and has performed with the Knox County Cantata Choir in previous years.
Jazz flugelhornist David Wells will also be featured. David has previously performed on the Memorial Theater stage during the 2017 Easter Cantata. David is a concert promoter as well as the founder and CEO of the Chocolate Jazz Foundation Inc., and has his own nationally syndicated radio show called “Chocolate Jazz Radio”. He has released 14 CDs and was on the entry ballot to become a nominee for “Best Pop Instrumental Album” at the 2009 Grammy Awards with his CD “Friday Afternoon”. David lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and two children.
Performances will be Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at the Memorial Theater, 112 East High Street, Mount Vernon. Tickets are $7 pre-sale and $10 at the door.
