MOUNT VERNON — Main Street Mount Vernon and the Mount Vernon small business community is proud to take part in Small Business Saturday, also called “Shop Small Saturday,” on Saturday, Nov. 25. Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide. Celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the day has given small businesses across the country a huge boost.
“The shopping experience enhances the joy of giving and many local companies also cater to the online shopper,” states Carol Grubaugh, Executive Director of the Knox County Chamber of Commerce. “Local commerce recirculates a greater portion of revenue back into the community. It is beneficial to shop local throughout the year to make a more vibrant community.”
Here are just a few of the downtown businesses open on Shop Small Saturday: A Jillian Vance Design, Aesthetics Spa, Black Walnut Holler, Coleman Family Gallery, Crickets on South Main, Kudos Art Co-op, Mount Vernon Clock Company, Nimbly Acres, Paragraphs Bookstore, Pine Row Studios, SPI Spot, and The Woolson Company.
