MANSFIELD – A 30-year-old Mansfield man died early Saturday morning in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

Samuel Simmons was operating a motorcycle in Mansfield when it collided with the back of a Ford Expedition driven by David Kirst, 49, near the intersection of Park Avenue East and South Adams Street, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:43 a.m. Simmons was prounced dead at the scene.

Kirst, also a Mansfield resident, had “possible injuries” according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The OSHP is investigating the crash. Assured clear distance and speed are possible factors.
