Accidents:
At 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Elaine Mackey, 56, of Howard was traveling southbound on N. Main Street in her 2012 Ford Fusion. William W. Drake, 27, of Mount Vernon was in his 2012 Jeep Wrangler turning left from E. Chestnut Street onto S. Main Street. At the intersection of Chestnut and Main, they collided. Both drivers claimed to have had the green light.
Just before 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, Bill A. Compton, 40, of Mount Vernon was traveling southbound on Newark Road in his 1992 Toyota Camry. His vehicle suddenly jerked to the right and he lost control of it. It came to rest after striking two mail boxes and a utility pole.
