MOUNT VERNON – The Howard man accused of being the leader of a prescription drug ring was sentenced to 10 years in prison this morning in Knox County Common Pleas Court. Terry Jacobs, 43, was sentenced for corrupt activity and funding of drug trafficking.
Jacobs wife, Heather Jacobs, was sentenced to 90 days behind bars for obstructing justice.
The case was announced last year. At the time it was revealed that during the course of the investigation it was discovered since 2011 groups of individuals, also referred to as travelers, would drive together on a monthly basis to the state of Florida to visit doctors in the Tampa and Lakeland areas. These travelers would then obtain written prescriptions for pain, and other types of medications. They would then have those prescriptions filled in different states including Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
After arriving back in Central Ohio, some of these pills would then allegedly be turned over to the main organizer and funder Terry Jacobs. It is also alleged that his wife, Heather Jacobs, participated by making vehicle rental arrangements and hotel reservations for the travelers.
