MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Police detectives have yet to release a statement about what happened to a 6-month old boy who lives with his mom in their Taylor Road home last Friday. But the story of little Hunter has been reported by an out of town media outlet and is being discussed on social media.
WBNS 10 TV reports that Hunter is being treated at Children’s Hospital in Columbus for burns and broken bones. The boys father, Zachary Hammons, had been serving in the military in Texas when he got the news and made a quick trip back to Ohio. He told the TV station’s reporter that his son has “a third degree burn that is bone-deep on his leg.” Hunter’s mom, Lora Miller, discovered the burn when she returned to her Mount Vernon home Friday night. Her baby had been in someone else’s care. Once at the hospital, doctors discovered more injuries.

Hammons told 10TV Monday afternoon that after a number of surgeries, doctors were able to save Hunter’s leg.
On facebook, a page has been set up: Prayers for Hunter Dean Hammons.
