MOUNT VERNON — A week after local family doctor Brent Nimeth exited his office on 1220 Yauger Road, leaving nothing more than a note authored by his former employer, the American Health Network, Nimeth’s attorney told Knox Pages the doctor is in a contract dispute with the network.

Kim Rose, of Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston, Ltd., said in a press release: “We are hopeful to have the contract and business disagreements addressed in the near future.

“Dr. Nimeth is looking forward to returning to the practice of medicine as soon as he can,” Rose said.

Rose implied the reason for Nimeth’s departure could be business-related. He stated his firm often represents people “in employment-related business disputes.”

Nimeth has been out of his office for the last week. A note on the office’s front desk from the American Health Network saying that he is no longer employed with the network. The statement does not give a reason for his unemployment.

The network states it is “unaware of any plans he has for practicing in the near term.” The document also states Nimeth’s patients will be referred to the nurse practitioners working in that office — Ashlee Armstrong and Pamela Struder.

“Please understand that many patients are needing care and we want to prioritize and schedule those with the most immediate needs first,” the document states. “We apologize for any inconveniences this has caused.”

Mount Vernon Police Captain Scott McKnight said the department does not have any open investigations regarding Nimeth.

The American Health Network has yet to issue a statement on the situation.
