MOUNT VERNON – As of 1 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015, Sheriff David Shaffer placed Knox County on a Level 1 Snow Emergency. That means roads are snow covered and slick and motorists should drive with caution.

Knox County is also under a Wind Chill Warning until 7 p.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service says bursts of snow will continue into this evening and with blowing snow create hazardous driving conditions. Visibilities could drop to just under a quarter mile.

Temperatures will fall through tonight behind an arctic cold front. The winds will combine with frigid air to result in dangerous wind chill values of 25 to 35 below zero overnight into Sunday morning.
