Matthew Guenther Spahr, 51 of Mount Vernon passed away on February 10, 2025 at his residence. He was born on September 8, 1973 to John and Janet (Guenther) Spahr Sr. in Pittsburgh, PA.
Matthew graduated from Punxsutawney High School, class of 1992. He was a US Navy Veteran. Matthew was an artist who loved drawing. He enjoyed participating in drumming circles with hand drums. Matthew enjoyed the Grateful Dead, Festivals and camping. He had a soft spot for cats and would always care for stray cats. Matthew was a very good cook, he worked for The Alcove and Southside Diner. Most recently he worked for Lanning’s Foods in Mount Vernon. He was an avid lover of the arts; singing and acting. In his earlier years he participate in many community theater productions.
Matthew is survived by his mother Janet (Guenther) Spahr of Mount Vernon, OH; a brother John (Kelly) Spahr Jr. of Tiffin, OH; a sister Margaret Jeanne Spahr (Michael Kilhoffer) of Coudersport, PA; aunts and uncles Judith (Charles) Bungo of Clearfield, PA, Melinda (Dennis) Scheid of Ft. Meyers, FL, Jim (Jackie) Spahr of Lakeport, CA, Jane Adams Spahr of San Francisco, CA and Delores Spahr of Pittsburgh, PA; many cousins and extended family members.
Matthew was preceded in death by his father, John Vickers Spahr Sr.
There will be a Celebration of Matthew’s life at a later date.
