Karen Elaine Williams Leary, 72, of Marion, went to be with Jesus Monday evening, Dec. 17, 2018.
She passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Marion General Hospital.
On Sept. 12, 1946, Karen was born in Mount Gilead, OH, a daughter of the late Alva Arvene Williams and Hazel Luella (Allen) Zentler.
On May 1, 1965, Karen Married Richard John “Dick” Leary in Cardington, OH. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2012.
A woman of faith, Karen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cardington, where she loved singing in the church choir.
A loving wife and mother, Karen enjoyed sewing, making cakes, taking care of her animals and gardening.
Karen was a fighter. She endured many hardships and illnesses throughout her life. At last, she just couldn’t do it any longer and was too tired to continue fighting.
She is loved and survived by her children: Mark (Judy) Leary, of Toledo, Ohio, Marielaina (Jeff) Kanniard, of Delaware, Ohio, Shannon (Bruce) Landon, of Marion, Ohio; grandchildren: Kent Kanniard, Jessica Leary, Marissa Leary, all of Marion, Michael Landon, of Mount Vernon; sister, Shirley Baker, of Cardington; nephew, Matthew (Donna) Wright, of Cardington; nieces: Lorraine (Randy) Wright, of Mount Gilead, Jimanna (Rick) Clark, of Mount Gilead, Petrona (Carlos) Clement, of California; a nephew-in-law, Jerry Burgess, of Prospect; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents: Alva and Hazel; husband, Dick; brother, James S. Williams; brother-in-law, Alvin “Bill” Baker; a niece, Deborah Burgess; and her grandmother, Anna Mathes.
Her family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mt. Gilead. A celebration of her life will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Patrick Kelly officiating.
