MOUNT VERNON — It is hard to resist a murder mystery. The Knox County Historical Society invites anyone interested to the museum on Oct. 7 to learn about Mount Vernon’s most infamous unsolved case.
On the night before Easter 1905, Miranda Bricker left her sister’s house. As she approached the gate of the Maplehurst Mansion, home of one of the city’s leading industrialists, she was attacked and brutally killed. Her murderer was never identified.
Mark Sebastian Jordan might change that as he tells the story of the murder, of its investigation, of a cross-country manhunt, of an innocent man who was nearly lynched, and of the man who Jordan believes may have perpetrated one of Knox County’s most vicious and infamous unsolved crimes.
Jordan will speak at 7:30 p.m. at the Knox County Historical Museum, 875 Harcourt Road.
