MOUNT GILEAD — Officials in Knox County would like to formally thank area residents for their participation on the Cram the Cruiser event to benefit Kentucky tornado victims.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol teamed up with the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Gilead Police Department, Cardington Police Department, and the United Way for the Cram the Cruiser event on Sunday, Dec. 19 at Kroger in Mount Gilead.

Area residents donated a total of 14,400 pounds of non-perishable food, clothing, water, hygiene products, diapers, toys, pet food, and monetary donations of $3,259.25. All donations from the event were transported to Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Dec. 20 in a large U-Haul truck provided by CP Properties of Mount Gilead.

On behalf of all the agencies involved, we would like to express our gratitude to those who donated to the Cram the Cruiser event. It was a huge success because of the support of so many generous people. We are so proud of our community for working together for this great cause and their overwhelming generosity.

The donations will aid the local residents of Kentucky who were affected by the recent tornadoes.
