MOUNT VERNON — Excitement for 7 Brew’s new Mount Vernon drive-thru ran high Monday as the coffee chain cut the ribbon on its latest Ohio stand.

The shop on Coshocton Avenue opened to customers Oct. 30. Long lines formed well before the official ceremony, and drivers kept coming.

Mount Vernon is the latest stop in the company’s fast growth. Derek Stevens, the company’s director of operations for Northeast Ohio, said the franchise has about 65 locations. He oversees roughly 35 of them.

“It’s hard to keep track, we’re opening so fast,” Stevens said.

The company started in 2023 in Massillon. It now operates in Georgia and Texas. There are plans to expand to Idaho, Oregon, and Vancouver.

The company opened a Delaware location in June and an Ashland location in August.

“We’ve just kind of been spreading since then, so a lot of fun,” Stevens said.

More Ohio openings are coming. Kent is next week, followed by Alliance, Strongsville and Mentor. Cincinnati, Wilmington, Delhi and Hamilton will open by the end of the year.

“So, a lot of development, a lot of growth,” Stevens said. “It’s been a busy, busy end of the year for us. We’re having a lot of fun doing it, though.”

Mayor Matt Starr welcomed the business and said residents are eager to see it succeed.

“There’s been a lot of excitement, a lot of buzz, and many excited people who are very happy to see 7 Brew as part of our business community,” he said.

Aubrey Hughes, the stand leader, cut the ribbon. Lauren Hartley, the regional leader, oversees the Mount Vernon location along with Chillicothe and nearby shops.

Stevens said the team has felt welcome since arriving to train.

“People like dropping off treats, so it’s been really exciting to be part of this community,” he said.

The company marked the opening with $2,000 donations each to the Knox County Dog Shelter and the Marion County Humane Society. Stevens said the gifts are only a start.

“We are a huge believer in being part of our local communities,” he said.

He invited local groups, charities and high schools to contact Hughes or Hartley. The company aims to hold at least one give-back event a month, such as donating proceeds from drinks.

More promotions are planned. Next week, 7 Brew will give away free small drinks three times a day. The celebration ends Nov. 14 with “Swag Day.” Customers who buy a large drink that day get a free 7 Brew T-shirt.

The Knox County Chamber of Commerce hosted the ceremony.

“On behalf of the Knox County Chamber of Commerce, we would like to congratulate 7 Brew and the whole team here on this milestone,” Chamber Executive Director Jill McCartney said.

“We’re looking forward to having you in the community.”
