MOUNT GILEAD – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed Thursday night while standing on I-71 near mile post 147, according to the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Brandon Miller, 38, of Columbus, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Morrow County Emergency Services, authorities stated.
The incident took place at approximately 10:23 p.m. in Harmony Township of Morrow County.
According to the Patrol, Miller was standing in the north-bound lanes of Interstate 71, near mile post 147. Brandon Diguilio, 42, of North Ridgeville, was operating a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse, north-bound on I-71. Miller was struck by Diguilio’s vehicle.
Diguilio stayed at the scene and did not sustain any injuries from the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Big Walnut Joint Fire District, Morrow County Fire Department, Morrow County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Morrow County Coroner.
The crash remains under investigation.
