John C. Annett, age 78, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Doctors Hospital, OhioHealth in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on March 19, 1948, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Clyde and Ellen (Spencer) Annett.
John was a 1966 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. He worked for 26 years at the Hoover Company before retiring from Lowe’s in Mount Vernon.
John enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved camping and fishing. He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with friends. He and his son shared many memorable days racing their RC cars. John was also a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.
Above all else, John cherished his family. He treasured the time spent with those he loved and created many lasting memories that will be cherished by his family and friends.
John will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Monte (Beach) Annett, a son, Ashley (Penny Young) Annett of Mount Vernon, a daughter, Tracy Dawn Selmon of Mount Vernon, four grandchildren, Jocelyn (Aaron) Beeman, Emma Annett, Novarae (Jorden) Rutherford, and Alexis Klintworth, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Carolyn Sue (Steve) Reiter of Mount Vernon, and Elizabeth (Louie) Tablett of Fredericktown, a brother in law, James (Irma Keil) Beach of Mount Vernon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son in law, Raymond Selmon.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, beginning at 11 a.m. in Mound View Cemetery with Joe Proudfoot officiating and Jim Beach speaking. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of John C Annett.
