HOWARD — Hayden Baker and Blake Elliott from the East Knox FFA were among more than 3,800 members recently recognized for receiving their American FFA Degree during a convention in Indianapolis.

Both members had to have earned their State FFA Degrees, completed at least three years of an agricultural education program and graduated from high school at least 12 months prior to the convention.

The member had to have at least 50 hours of community service, and productively earn $10,000 and reinvest $7,500 into their Supervised Agricultural Experience program.

They must have maintained a scholastic record of at least a “C” or better and completed a written application that goes through an intense evaluation process on the local, district, state, and national levels.

Each year fewer than 2% of the FFA membership ever accomplishes this honor.

This year they were among 5,816 members that got their American Degree in the entire United States so local leaders are very proud to have two of those from right here in the East Knox School district.

Hayden’s supervised agricultural experience program consisted of job placement projects at Baker Property and Gambier Welding. Hayden is currently employed at Ellis Brothers Ready Mix Concrete. He is the son of Dustin and Lisa Baker.

Blake’s supervised agricultural experience program consisted of job placements at Elliott Farms, Gingrich Repair, and Blue Sky Mine Ag Solutions. Blake is currently employed at Elliott Farms, Gingrich Repair, and also has his own portable welding business as well.  Blake is the son of Josh and Alissa Elliott.
