A funeral service for Harold E. McDonald, age 88, will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at The Newark Chapel of Henderson – Van Atta – Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 N. Fifth Street, Newark, with Pastor Jeff Hawkins, officiating. Visitation will be the same day of the service from 2 – 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Harold passed away July 24, 2026. He was born February 22, 1938 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to the late Evert and Alice R. (Paazig) McDonald. Harold was a graduate of Utica High School.
He worked for many years at the Saint Regis Paper Company, later known as Technical and Georgia-Pacific. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also took great pride in gardening, tending to his flower gardens, and caring for his lawn.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores June (Robinson) McDonald; son, Douglas “Brian” (Jessica) McDonald; daughter, Linda (Sam) McDonald; brother, Charles McDonald; sister, Maxine (Steve) Vaden; step-son, Donald (Bev) Trickle; step- daughter, Sharon Redman; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant son, Lowell; sister-in-law, Carol McDonald, son-in-law, Bobby Redman; and great-great grandson, Landon Redman.
