Gloria S. Newell, age 68, of Mount Vernon passed away at her home on Sunday, June 28, 2026, with her loving family at her side.
She was born on September 16, 1957, in Marion, Ohio to the late Warren and Suzanna (Shaffer) McGinnis. Gloria was employed for over 25 years as a teller at C.E.S Credit Union here in Mount Vernon. She was very artistic and enjoyed baking. She enjoyed baking cakes for special days, like weddings and birthdays. She also enjoyed fingernail painting and making jewelry. But most of all, Gloria loved the time she spent with her family, close friends, and her canine companion Liberty Belle.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Newell; her daughter Brandy (Scott) Clayton; her son Scott Neibarger; two grandchildren, Hailey Clayton, Kailey Clayton; and her four sisters, Lynda Goff, Barbie (Ron) Kennedy, Denise (Bill) Kramer, and Victoria (Ray) Gladman.
Friends may call on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Snyder Funeral Home – Flowers Chapel from 11am – 1pm. A service will follow, beginning at 1pm, with Pastor Justin Bryant officiating. Burial will take place in Mound View Cemetery.
