To the Editor:

In August, Jerrad Christian took a week or two of time from his congressional campaign to heIp flood survivors in Crooksville/Perry County. He organized assistance and raised money for food and necessities. That is just the kind of person he is.

I am writing this letter in support of his candidacy for the U.S. Congress from the Ohio 12th District.  Jerrad is a Navy veteran, who after leaving the service, learned software and became a software engineer.

People in Ohio are concerned about the cost of living, especially food and gas prices. President Trump started the war in Iran, and initiated senseless tariffs, both actions which have led to our economic problems.

We need strong leaders in the House like Jarred who will take back the powers of Congress over war and tariffs and help restore affordability.

Jerrad is opposed to provisions in the so-called Big Beautiful Bill that will be taking away SNAP and Medicaid benefits (most cuts come after the election) from those most needy, while higher earners receive proportionately higher tax cuts.

Jerrad addresses other concerns that Ohioans have. He is against data centers that causes electricity costs to rise, uses up clean water, and are erected without community consent. He believes that Flock cameras are a Fourth Amendment violation, and invade our privacy, and would work the get them banned.

Jerrad Christian wants to take corruption and dark money out of politics. He hasn’t taken any money from PACs or lobbying groups, or billionaires, just small dollar donations from regular folks.

This is in contrast to Troy Balderson who has taken over 500 donations from lobbying groups, corporate superpacs, and billionaires. Jerrad believes U.S. Senators and Representatives should not be trading in individual company stocks; there is too much chance for self-dealing as many of these companies have business before congress.

He supports strengthening funding for public education, raising the minimum wage, and making the rich pay their fair share.

He wants to work to make life better for families, serve Ohioans who have been forgotten, and is accessible and approachable about your concerns. He has held over 50 public events/forums, many of them in Knox County.

I don’t recall his opponent Troy Balderson ever having a town hall meeting in Mount Vernon or Knox County in his eight years as Representative.

A vote for Jerrad Christian would help bring about more strength, accountability, caring, and transparency into Congress.

Sincerely,

Patricia Keane
