Rodney E. Ewers, 62, of Mount Vernon died on Saturday morning, June 20, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. He grew up on the family farm in Fredericktown, Ohio to James Ewers and the late Carolyn (Ayers) Ewers.
Rodney began his career as an electrician before finding his place at Kenyon College, where he served as an electrician for 20 years. It was there that he met his loving wife, Theresa. Rodney was a devoted family man who always went above and beyond to support his loved ones. He cherished spending time with his family, whether assisting with a gardening project Theresa had dreamed up, maintaining the pool for everyone to enjoy, or playing with his grandchildren. Rodney’s favorite vacation destination was Sanibel Island, Florida, where he married Theresa and continued to vacation regularly throughout the years. He spent hours walking the beach in search of unique seashells, soaking up the sun, and relaxing with Theresa. Rodney was also a devoted fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Ohio State Buckeyes, attending numerous games over the years.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Theresa (Thompson) Ewers, whom he married on August 7, 2009; his father, James Ewers of Fredericktown; stepchildren, Kayla Riley (James Grennell) of Mount Vernon, Amber Pilotti of Mount Vernon, and Joseph Pilotti of Columbus; grandchildren, Griffin Riley, Avery Kuehner, Laini Kuehner (Matt Shepherd), Kelcy (Kody) Fowler, Morgan Pilotti, and Riley Pilotti; three great grandchildren; sisters, Kassie (Brian) Lester of Fredericktown and Dulcie (Rick) Ricketts of Pickerington; and several nieces and nephews.
Rodney was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Ewers and granddaughter, Hazel Riley.
