CENTERBURG — Centerburg celebrated the nation’s 250th birthday on Saturday with the Heart of USA Days annual parade.
Despite rain on the horizon, participants gathered at the Centerburg Church of Christ for the step-off. Horses, cheerleaders and tractors all waited eagerly for the event to begin.
The march commenced at 10 a.m. sharp when the Columbus Saints Drum and Bugle Corps began the festivities with its rendition of “When the Saints Go Marching In.” The procession was led by veterans from all branches of the military, who were honored as Grand Marshals.
Families and local lined downtown Centerburg to cheer on the marchers and catch candy. The parade ended at Memorial Park where vendors and carnival rides awaited parade participants and spectators alike.
