John J “Jack” Petro, 83, of Howard, Ohio, died Thursday, June 4th, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born February 5th, 1943, in Cleveland, OH, to the late John and Dorothy (Spodnik) Petro.
Jack honorably served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War, and then served his community, retiring as a fire inspector from the City of Euclid Fire Department in 1992. He was a Catholic by faith.
Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly J (Davis) Petro; and daughter Elizabeth “Libby” (Tony) Petro Castillo of Fredericktown.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes, there will be no graveside service. Jack will be privately buried at sea in Lake Erie, near the prosperous fishing grounds of Ballast Island, where he enjoyed fishing with Beverly, Libby and other friends and family.
