Mary Ruth West, age 66, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026 with her loving family by her side. She was born on October 30, 1959, in Troy, Ohio, to the late Richard and Ruth (McGillvary) Jaymes.
Mary worked for Lanning’s Food Services and was a member of Storyside Church in Bellville, Ohio. She loved music and it was a big part of her life. Mary was in groups throughout her life singing for people to enjoy. She had one of the biggest hearts around and her compassion for people in need was overwhelming.
Mary is survived by her husband, of 42 years, Robert M. West; daughter, Ribeqah D. Cantu;
grandchildren, Alene M. Cantu, and Gabriel M. D. Cantu; brothers, Paul A. Jaymes, and Jon
(Vicky) Jaymes; a sister, Miriam (Michael) Thomas; several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by a brother, David Jaymes.
A gathering will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 11 am until the time of a celebration of life starting at 12 pm at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Lasater Chapel; 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050. It was Mary’s expressed desire that those who would attend this celebration adorn bright and colorful clothes in recognition of her joy for the Lord and her acceptance into her new home. Please come.
