Roger Lawson, 79, of Howard, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 22, 1946, in Richlands, Virginia, Roger was the son of the late Cecil and Margaret (Dye) Lawson.
Roger dedicated over 30 years of service to the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Division of Weights and Measures. Following his retirement in 2002, he remained active and hardworking, taking on several post-retirement roles with companies including Sears, New Hope Industries, and Mount Vernon Packaging.
He was a man who truly enjoyed life, especially the time he spent socializing with friends and family. Roger was a proud member of the Moose and Eagles lodges, where he held various leadership positions. His warm personality, quick wit, and genuine kindness made him a familiar and welcome presence around town. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Laura (Wolford) Lawson, his son, Shane (Ronica) Lawson; his daughter, Nikki (Jason DeLaughder) Lawson; his grandson, Eric Lawson; his brother, Curt (Mavis) Lawson; his sister-in-law, Kathy (Richard) McKinley, brother-in-law, Ray (Pat) Wolford, sister-in-law Sandy Lawson, brother-in-law Dan Kelley and several loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony and Fred Lawson, his sister, Shirley Kelley and sister-in-law Gwen Lawson
In accordance with Roger’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. The family will hold a private gathering. Arrangements are being handled by Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel.
