The incident occurred at a single-family residence in the 100 block of North Division Street.
When they arrived, officers located a single adult female victim outside of the residence.
Based on information provided by the victim, including statements the suspect brandished a firearm and threatened to kill the victim, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the suspect, Calvin P. Canter, 33, for domestic violence. Â
When officers approached the residence to arrest Canter, the incident escalated to an armed standoff, police said.
