MOUNT VERNON — Experience Mount Vernon has launched its Military Appreciation Banner Program once again in honor of Veterans Day.

The program offers Knox Countians the opportunity to sponsor a banner downtown in honor of the service and sacrifice local veterans and active-duty military exemplify.

There is no specific goal for how many banners will fly downtown. However, the number of brackets limits the number of banners.

“We don’t have a specific number of banners in mind, but the program is limited by the number of available brackets in downtown, which is currently 54,” Experience Mount Vernon Executive Director Lacey Filkins said.

Specifically, locals can admire the banners along South Main Street, East High Street, and, if needed, West High Street.

“We are honored to provide the community with this meaningful way to recognize and remember our local heroes,” Filkins said. “These banners not only beautify our downtown but also stand as a testament to the pride we share in our veterans and service members.”

For those interested in sponsoring a banner, the deadline is Sept. 19. The pricing information for each group is provided below.

  • Businesses: $275 for the first sponsorship and $200 for subsequent renewals
  • Non-profits: $175 for the first sponsorship and $125 for subsequent renewals
  • Individuals/Families: $175 for the first sponsorship and $125 for subsequent renewals
