FREDERICKTOWN — Things just got a bit warmer in Fredericktown.
Community members gathered for the ribbon cutting/dedication of The Fredericktown Community Fireplace on Saturday.
“Our community has been so blessed by the generosity of so many,” Fredericktown Community Fireplace committee member Kathy Daniels said. “This space, where friends will gather, children will play and lives will be shared is no exception.”
A local group spearheaded this project through private fundraising and donations of labor, materials, and equipment.
Approximately 95% of the project was funded through donations, Daniels said. The fireplace is valued at $100,000.

Construction began the week of June 27 on the southeast corner of the Public Square, adjacent to the Brick House Grind coffee shop. Irl Ruhl was the construction manager.
The conceptual design was completed by the Fredericktown High School “Project Lead the Way” engineering class. Juston Streby handled the engineering design.
Originally, the fireplace was expected to be completed by Aug. 1, Daniels said, but was moved back due to applying for necessary permits.
“Gifts of time and talent, donations both large and small and a shared vision for the future of Fredericktown,” Daniels said in describing the project. “For every individual who gave something of themselves to make this possible, we are extremely grateful.”
