GAMBIER — A new splash of paint will hit Ohio 229/308’s retaining wall for Gambier’s roundabout project.
Gambier council picked “dahlia rose” brush over “autumn breeze” paint coating for the retaining walls color profile on Monday.
Village administrator R.C. Wise said that the roundabout project is expected to be finished by Nov. 1.

Also at council, Wise announced the village’s upcoming no-fees dumpster day on Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon. The dump-off location is at 141 Meadow Lane at the village’s maintenance barn.
College Township residents are welcome to participate, Wise said.
Gambier’s Community Center will host county electronic recycling made possible by Deleware Knox Marion Marrow Solid Waste District (DKMM.)
Every first Friday of the month, Accurate IT Services will have a truck outside the community center from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
It’ll cost $20 to recycle LED, LCD and plasma flat-panel TVs 30 inches and larger, CRT computer monitors and CRT TVs under 24 inches.
If there are CRT TVs 24 inches or larger, rear projection, DLP, console and all other TVs will cost $40.
Accurate IT Services aren’t accepting alkaline batteries.
Gambier receives help in unaccounted water
Council approved a “memorandum of understanding” with the Delta Institute to receive technical assistance free of charge to undergo an audit for unaccounted water in Gambier’s water system.
Paid for via U.S. EPA funds, the agreement is valued at between $20,000 to $30,000, according to the agreement.
The average for municipalities with unaccounted water is 15-30%, Wise said. The village’s is around 49%.
The partnership with Delta Institute is to mitigate excessive non-revenue water from the village’s drinking water system, according to the memorandum of understanding.
Delta Institute would “provide resources to assist the village in conducting a leak survey and identifying non-functioning meters in their water system,” the memorandum states.
