DANVILLE — She won the Triple Crown and was among the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference’s top pitchers.
It’s no wonder Danville’s Grace Gronberg was voted the KMAC’s Player of the Year.
The Bluffton-bound Gronberg led the Blue Devils to the KMAC crown. She batted a league-leading .588 with 11 home runs and 39 runs batted in. In the pitcher’s circle, she was 14-4 with a 2.20 earned run average and 162 strikeouts in 105 innings.
Danville’s Alicia Humphrey, Abigail Sapp and Madison Payne were selected to the KMAC first team, along with Centerburg’s Abby Herren and Fredericktown’s Taylor Brown and Kelsey Bell. They were joined by Cardington’s Genevieve Longsdorf and Ariana Simpson, Mount Gilead’s Greer Simpson and Northmor’s Madison Simpson and Kate Kissling.
Danville’s Addyson Bocock, Addison Mickley and Emily Weckesser, Fredericktown’s Chloe Wells and Jesenia Montalvo and Centerburg’s Brooklyn Pankuch were second team picks. Other second-teamers included Cardington’s Alexis Longsdorf and Morgan Powell, Mount Gilead’s Kierra Main and Northmor’s Kallie Wright and Mahaila Strobel.
Honorable-mention picks were Cardington’s Celia Hall, Centerburg’s Harley Webb, Danville’s Jaylyn Smith, Fredericktown’s Trinity Garrettson, Mount Gilead’s Anavey Jodrey and Northmor’s Shelby Cooper.
The All-Academic picks were Cardington’s Genevieve Longsdorf, Centerburg’s Alyssa Harris, Danville’s Broegan Staats, Fredericktown’s Julia Partington and Northmor’s Saje Miley.
Danville’s Charlie Duncan was selected the Coach of the Year. He guided the Blue Devils to the outright KMAC championship and a perfect 10-0 conference record. Fredericktown (8-2) was runner-up and Cardington (7-3) finished third.
