MANSFIELD — The National Weather Service has advised that severe weather will be possible across the region into early Wednesday with temperatures dropping rapidly Wednesday night.
Large hail is the primary threat overnight for northwest and north central Ohio with the added chance of a tornado or damaging winds Tuesday night into early Wednesday for northwest and north central Ohio.
“Greetings all,” said Rebecca Owens, director of Richland County’s Emergency Management Agency. “(It’s) yet another roller coaster week of weather in wonderful (north central) Ohio.
“Enjoy the sunshine and toasty temps today.”
On Tuesday, Feb. 26, the high will be 65. The National Weather Service forecast is mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly this morning. Highs in the mid 60s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
Tuesday night, showers and thunderstorms are likely. Lows in the mid 50s. South winds will reach 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. The chance of rain is 70 percent.
Wednesday the high will be 61 but temperatures will fall rapidly as clouds mix with a chance of rain showers. Thunderstorms are likely in the morning, then a chance of snow showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. There will be little or no snow accumulation. The day will start windy with highs in the lower 60s. Temperatures will then plunge into the lower 30s in the afternoon. West winds will reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
On Wednesday night the low will be 21 degrees. It will be mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers in the evening, then mostly clear after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation. Breezy and much cooler with lows in the lower 20s. West winds will range from 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph in the evening. The chance of snow is 30 percent.
