MOUNT VERNON — Bond was set at $500,000 Friday for a Mount Vernon man charged with aggravated murder after a woman was found dead in a North Mulberry Street home.
Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville requested bond be set at $500,000 without a 10% option due to the severity and seriousness of the criminal charge and details gleaned from the 911 call.
Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge John Thatcher agreed.
Chad R. Taylor, 44, was charged with aggravated murder Thursday after a woman was found dead at 703 North Mulberry St. earlier that morning.
Mount Vernon Police Department detectives were called to the residence along with investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).

Officers also responded to a residence in the 700 block of West High Street where the initial 911 call originated from. When officers arrived, they detained
Taylor as a suspect, the release states.
According to the 911 call, the caller said, “My stepson just showed up and he killed his fiance. He said he stabbed her.”
Following the provisions of Ohio’s Marsy’s Law, the victim’s identification will not be released at this time.
Taylor’s next court date is Nov. 6.
