Vickie Elaine Byers, age 64, of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Knox Community Hospital.
She was born on November 24, 1958, in Jolo, West Virginia to the late Ted and Phyllis (Riffe) Proffit. Vickie was employed for over 18 years as a caregiver at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. She was also a member of the Eagles here in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed decorating and gardening. But most of all, Vickie loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Mandy Byers, Nicole Byers; her son Shawn Caudill; six grandchildren, Kamilla, Alli, Jasmine, Delaney, Phoenix, Oakleigh; her brothers, Nicholas (Joyce) Proffit, Steve (Brenda) Proffit; and her sister Pam (Mike) Cohagen.
In addition to her parents, Vickie was preceded in death by her brother Ricky Proffit.
In keeping with Vickie’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private family graveside in West Virginia at a later date.
