Michael R. Hobbs, 77, of Hilliard (formerly of Mount Vernon) passed away on June 29,2023 in Hilliard, OH. He was born December 9, 1945, in Mount Vernon, OH. Michael always showed courage in the face of adversity throughout his life.
After graduating from Otterbein University where he played football, he enjoyed a long and successful career in various vocations including teacher, bar owner, and real estate broker. As a man of faith, he frequently attended church at the Faith Life Church in New Albany, OH. As a proud father, Michael’s favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren and family. He also enjoyed working out, spending time with friends, rooting for the Buckeyes and the Browns, and eating desserts whenever he could. He will be remembered for the humor he brought into a room and his immense love he had for his family and friends.
Michael is survived by his mother Jean (McCalla) Hobbs; his children Andrea Ignasiak of Dublin, OH, Kylie (Ryan) Hoover of Hilliard, OH, Jacob Hobbs of Grove City, and Sydney Hobbs of Delaware, OH; grandchildren Finn, McKenna, Layne, Anderson and Sawyer; a sister Jill Phillips of Mount Vernon, OH and many extended family members.
Michael was preceded in death by his father Hugh Eugene Hobbs, a son Michael, his brother Charlie, sister-in-law Sue and a nephew Hugh.
The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
Calling hours will be Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Flowers ~ Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Funeral services will be Friday, July 7, 2023, at 11:00am at the Funeral Home followed by graveside services at Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg, OH.
