Glen F. Day, age 80, of Gambier, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Country Club Retirement Campus.
He was born on October 14, 1942, in Summerfield, Ohio to the late Kyle and Beulah (Shackle) Day.
Glen enjoyed a long career in electronics beginning at his own TV repair shop and concluding in research at Owens Corning Fiberglass Science and Technology Campus in Granville, Ohio where he received numerous US patents. Later in life, he pursued private aviation where he began with a private pilot’s license and ultimately became a flight instructor. Glen had a love for all things mechanical, from building and racing go-karts as a child to motorcycles and dirt track cars as an adult. He was also a member of a computer and an amateur radio club for many years.
Glen rarely ran into a problem he couldn’t resolve. Not only for himself, but nearly anyone he came across. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Glen is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jaime (Richards) Day; two sons, Christopher G. (Nicole Geiger) Day of Newark and Brent K. (Jean) Day of Fredericktown; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sarah, Catherine, Rachel, Jonathan, Stella, Cynthia; brother, Donald (Alice) Day of Iowa; and a brother-in-law, M. Thomas Westenbarger of Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leatha Westenbarger. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 – 11:00 AM in Mound View Cemetery. Following the graveside, a reception will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the Snyder-Lasater Funeral Home Community Room, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon.
