Irene Gadd, age 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born on November 14, 1938, in Mount Vernon to the late Harold and Mable (Bell) Fawcett.
Irene served as an advisor on many boards including, The Career Center, Touch of Grace, Democratic Headquarters, past president of the Knox County Medical Assistance, and the AMVETS Ladies Aux Post 95. She loved kids and had been a full-time babysitter for more than 100 children.
She is survived by her daughter, Granada (Harold) McMahon; granddaughter, Eliza (Josh) Wiggins; grandson, Brock (Stephanie) Wiggins; six great-grandchildren, Lillian, Kaydence, John, Brooklyn, Joshua, Gregory; a sister, Nancy (James) O’Brien; and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; a son, Gregory Alan Gadd, brothers, Dwight, Robert, David, Donald, Ronald, James Fawcett; sisters, Rosella Hardesty, Kay Harding, and Patricia Fawcett.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd. in Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be on Saturday in Union Grove Cemetery in Gambier starting at 11:00 AM.
