Norma Jean Griffin ("Jeanie")

Norma Jean Griffin, known to her friends as “Jeanie,” passed away at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ohio following a brief illness at the age of 67.  Jeanie was born on New Year’s Day in 1956 and was the eldest daughter of Norman and Margaret Davis of Westerville, Ohio.  Growing up on her parents’ farm, Jeanie developed a lifelong love of horses and equestrianism.  Jeanie graduated from Knox County Career Center with an associate degree in Medical Assisting and attained additional qualifications in Phlebotomy and Radiology.  Jeanie served the Mount Vernon community as a medical assistant at Gentle Foot Care for over 25 years.  Jeanie enjoyed cooking, decorating (and redecorating) her home, shopping, and hosting family gatherings for her grateful children and grandchildren – to whom she devoted her entire life.  All who knew her loved her for her compassion, wisdom, candor, loyalty, and irrepressible humor.

Jeanie is predeceased by her mother and father, Norman and Margaret Davis, and her sister, Debbie Davis-Roberts.  Jeanie leaves behind her three sons: Jerry Smith (Amanda), Keith Baughman, and William Smith; grandchildren Jackson and Jordan Smith; brother Kim Davis; nieces Casey Perry (Lee) and Tiffany Roberts, nephew Jeremy Davis (Maura); dear cousins Bonita Cordi (Vince) and Shawna Brubaker; and many friends, patients, and colleagues who have had the opportunity to spend time with her over the years.  A memorial service will be held at New Life Apostolic Church (34 S. Main St., Utica, OH) on May 17th at 6 PM.
