MOUNT VERNON — Place 4 Grace, a Knox County-based ministry committed to providing safe housing options and other services to unwed pregnant women in Knox County, announces the opening of p4g THRIFT, a thrift shop which will help provide funding to the maternity housing ministry.

Place 4 Grace will hold grand opening events and sales May 11 thru May 13. A ribbon cutting will take place at the shop, 506 N. Main St., on May 12 at noon.

The grand opening celebration on May 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will include music, sales, and prizes along with food available for purchase from On The Rise Bar-B-Que food truck. Additional parking for the celebration and shopping is available in the parking lot of Foursquare Church located directly across Main Street from p4g THRIFT.

The goal of p4g THRIFT is to provide its shoppers with a boutique atmosphere and quality with thrifty prices.

Executive Director Kandee Popham said that every time shoppers purchase items, they can feel good knowing they are helping the mommas and babies of Place 4 Grace. All funds generated by the thrift shop will benefit the ministries of Place 4 Grace.

“My family has supported Place 4 Grace from the beginning of the ministry. When Kandee approached me about this opportunity, I was excited and nervous,” store manager Beth Landis said. “My family prayed about it, and God definitely opened doors for me to be in this position. I can’t wait to see how God uses p4g THRIFT to help provide funding for Place 4 Grace, our mommas and babies.”

Donations are accepted at the shop during business hours. All donations should be in very-gently-used to new condition. Items accepted are items of interest to women, mommas, infants and toddlers. Examples of items include women’s clothing’ and accessories such as shoes, jewelry, and purses; maternity clothing, nursing bras, and boppys; infant clothing, high chairs, bumbos and pack-n-plays; toddler clothing up to 5T, toys, strollers and shoes.

Items that are not accepted are used crib mattresses and used car seats.

p4g THRIFT runs on volunteer power. The ministry is inviting those interested in volunteering to stop by the shop during business hours or reach out via phone to 740-324-5244 or email at Beth@place4grace.com.

There may be additional perks, such as mileage reimbursement, for volunteers 55 and over.

The shop will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
