CENTERBURG — The Centerburg Lions Club held its annual Liberty Day assembly at Centerburg Middle School on May 12 at 10 a.m., featuring Judge Andrew King, Fifth District Court of Appeals, as the guest speaker.
During the program, the club distributed pocket editions of the U.S. Constitution to all sixth‑grade students.
The sixth graders were focused and polite, and asked questions about the US Constitution vs a state constitution. King helped the students understand the difference between a trial court and an appeals court, where he serves. They discussed the freedoms the Constitution grants us. The group was excited to learn more about the US Constitution on their eighth-grade trip to Washington DC.
The students applauded King for sharing his time and knowledge. They also thanked the Centerburg Lions for providing the US Constitution booklets.
