Richard E. “Dick” Davis, age 81, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the Bennington Glen Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on December 14, 1941, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Francis and Eva (Hoeflich) Davis. Dick was a 1960 graduate of Fredericktown High School.
Dick retired in 1997 from General Motors at the Fischer Body Plant in Ontario, Ohio, after 33 years of employment. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting. He was a member of the National Muzzleloader Rifle Association, Big Bucks Club of Loudonville, and Amateur Trapshooting Association. Dick has won or placed in numerous shooting and fishing competitions throughout Ohio.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane (Daubenspeck) Davis; his children, Dee Ann Durfee of Mount Vernon and Richard Scott Davis of Fredericktown; eight grandchildren, Megan Nichole Durfee, Morgan Renee (Jacob) Newton, Mason Andrew (Sutton) Durfee, Malaydan Manuel Durfee, Madison Monica Maria Durfee, Brandon Scott (Rebecca Gromley) Davis, Hailey Renee Davis, Julia Gwendoline Davis; a brother, John (Jeanne) Davis of Fredericktown, a sister, Kathy (Bob) Donaldson of Lexington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Renee Belcher and a grandson, Robert Brock Belcher.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, beginning at 2 p.m. in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown. The Snyder Funeral Home of Fredericktown is honored to serve the family of Richard E. “Dick” Davis.
