COLUMBUS — If the playoffs started this weekend, three Knox County schools would be in and two of them would be hosting first-round games.

While nothing will be decided for another five weeks, teams are beginning to get a feel for what Week 11 might look like after the Ohio High School Athletic Association released the second of six weekly computer ratings. The final computer ratings will come out Oct. 23.

The OHSAA divides its football-playing member schools into seven divisions based on enrollment size. Each enrollment division is divided into four geographic regions. The top 16 teams in each region — 448 teams in total — qualify for the playoffs.

Danville (4-1) would be in line to potentially host two postseason games. The Blue Devils are second in Division VII, Region 25 behind undefeated and Division VII heavyweight Warren JFK. Danville will host Loudonville on Friday.

Centerburg (4-1) is fifth in Division V, Region 19 after last week’s thrilling 28-21 win at Loudonville. The Trojans host Cardington-Lincoln on Friday.

Fredericktown (3-2) is 15th in Region 18 of Division V. The Freddies roughed up Mount Gilead 43-22 last week and will host Northmor (4-1) on Friday. The Golden Knights are fourth in Division VI, Region 23 despite last week’s 32-7 loss to Danville.

East Knox (2-3) played itself back into contention with last week’s 14-7 win at Cardington-Lincoln and is 17th in Division VI, Region 23. The Bulldogs would likely jump into the top 16 with a home win over Mount Gilead (3-2) on Friday.

Mount Vernon (1-4) is 24th in Division II, Region 7. The Yellow Jackets host New Philadelphia (2-3) on Friday.
