HOWARD — East Knox staff members showed their support at Thusday night’s Board of Education meeting, saying the district is headed in the right direction.
Pat Forshey, an employee at East Knox for more than 15 years, has put three kids through the East Knox school district and said all have successful lives post-graduation.
“We don’t have a board member that doesn’t love kids,” Forshey said, donning a purple East Knox T-shirt. “I can tell you that for a fact … I have researched them and I wouldn’t vote for somebody who is in here for a personal agenda.”
Forshey also wanted the board to know staff and parents are supporting them.
“There’s a lot of people backing you,” he said. “There’s times you’re going to screw up … I’m not perfect and you’re not perfect. As long as you continue to fight for our kids and love our kids the way we do, I’m backing you.”
Surrounding staff applauded after Forshey’s remarks.
Board President Derrick Steinmetz said retainment “is much better than what it was eight years ago.”
“I can tell you we are working nonstop,” he said.
In other district news, Superintendent Steve Larcomb said the first week of school is going well and a great majority of the Jr./Sr. school’s construction project is complete.
A dedication held for the expansion took place on Labor Day, a day before students returned district wide.
