FREDERICKTOWN — This year’s Fredericktown Tomato Show theme: a blast from the past.
From Wednesday through Saturday, Fredericktown will be home to a variety of tomato-themed events in celebration of the village’s community spirit.
From a parade to Fredericktown’s own Marching Scarlet and Grey, and 4- and 5-year-olds pulling tractors around Main Street. The 45th show has plenty to offer along with several food vendors to choose from.
The tomato show board meets once a month to plan for next year’s show, Board President Cale Grubb said.
For Grubb, he couldn’t live without the show.
“I grown up with it,” he said. “My dad was on the board for 15 years before I was. (This is) my 22nd year on the board.
“I couldn’t imagine my life without the tomato show.”
Another gleaming light of the show is the semi-reunions, Grubb said.
“There’s so many friend and class reunions that are scheduled around the Tomato Show,” Grubb said. “It’s great to be with people you haven’t seen for a year.”
