MOUNT VERNON — West Gambier Street was paved Tuesday, just in time for the Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival.
The city recently repaired the block between South Main and South Mulberry streets following a water line break.
Safety-service Director Richard Dzik said Public Square and South Main Street will close Wednesday for festival set-up. The festival officially kicks off on Thursday at 5 p.m.
The city reached another paving goal on Monday with the paving of East Pleasant Street. City officials wanted to complete the paving early enough so that it would not interfere with the start of school next week.
Next up on the paving schedule are Pearl and Marion streets. City crews are also working on Sunset installing new catch basins.
