DANVILLE — The Blue Devils will have a target on their backs — again.
Danville earned the top seed in the Division IV central district softball tournament during Sunday’s draw and will open postseason play at home at 5 p.m. May 11. The Devils will play either No. 16 Shekinah Christian or No. 17 Tree of Life for a sectional crown.
Danville has won six straight district championships dating to 2015 (the 2020 season was lost to the pandemic). The Blue Devils have earned the top seed in the district each of the past three seasons and six of the past seven years.
East Knox picked up the No. 3 seed and will play host to No. 18 Harvest Prep at 5 p.m. May 11 in the sectional final.
Division I
Mount Vernon earned the No. 9 seed in the 48-team Division I Central District and took a first-round bye. The Yellow Jackets open postseason play at home at 5 p.m. May 12 against either No. 27 Hilliard Darby or No. 45 Franklin Heights. Darby hosts Franklin Heights at 5 p.m. May 10.
Division III
Fredericktown picked up the No. 7 seed in the Division III draw. The Freddies will open postseason play at home at 5 p.m. May 12 against No. 9 seed Baltimore Liberty Union.
Centerburg is the No. 8 seed in the 17-team central district field. The Trojans open tournament play on the road against No. 6 Marion Elgin at 5 p.m. May 12.
